Addressing the gender imbalance, is imperative. Today, more than ever we continue to see the under-representation of women in technology. Not only do we see a lack of women in technology, but we also see a shortfall of women in leadership roles.
Gillian Tans, chairwoman of Booking.com mentioned that in order to redress the gender imbalance, it is crucial that these organizations imbue a working culture that encourages diversity at all levels of the organizations. Moreover, we need to put on emphasis on creating a work environment that women actually want to work for. This means taking into account the challenges and obstacles women often face in the workplace – and in turn addressing this through gender-equal policies and benefits.
Lastly, we need more women role models in technology. In doing so, it essential that we close the perception that there is an “ability gap”. We are all equals and it’s time we start creating a culture of confidence. #LIS4022spr20
