Trespass charges dismissed against 2 Colorado cybersecurity company employees

Two employee at Coalfire, a cybersecurity company, conducted pen tests of the Iowa county courthouses. These breaches worried officials which led to the two cybersecurity employees being arrested. A letter was given explaining the partnership between the company and courthouse that explained that the pen tests were authorized. They were still taken into custody, despite giving the letter prior to their arrest.

The confusion lead to a struggle between both parties just trying to do their jobs. One side wanting to test the security measures while the other was enforcing security by arresting intruders. This week charges were dropped after a meeting took place between Coalfire and the Iowa county courthouse representatives. The CEO of Coalfire made comments saying that there is something to be learned through this misunderstanding. The company will not adopt more best practices when conducting pen tests when working with companies or law enforcement. Read More.

Artificial Intelligence: Can it Solve our Health Care Crisis?

As we all know too well, healthcare costs have been a hot topic for conversation in the past years. Costs have skyrocketed, and multiple solutions have been offered but not all can seem to find grounds to agree on the controversial plans. Artificial intelligence can be used to help prevent and correct claims before they are filed and cause cost-related issues by using algorithms to detect the discrepancies before they are sent to the customer. Many people within the general population can be eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, and may not even be aware of this – with the use of AI, it can alert these people that they are eligible for the dual-enrollment of the programs and enroll them in both. AI in the healthcare industry can help to cut down on time and costly steps in processes with insurance and claims, leading to saving money in the long run, and on a very large scale.

Youtube Moderators Sign Contract Acknowledging Their Jobs May Cause PTSD

Social Media content moderators at a Texas facility called Accenture have been required to sign a contract called “Acknowledged” notifying them of the potential mental health warnings that come along with their specific job title. It has been now given to employees before accepting the job, and given to current employees also. This contract came into action because of the Verge investigation on employee PTSD. the contract stated, “It is possible that reviewing such content may impact my mental health, and it could even lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).”

YouTube is not the only brand facing these issues. Many of the thousands of the workers who moderate content for Facebook have reported harmful psychological effects from viewing graphic content on a daily basis, a September 2019 report from the Guardian found. In February, the Verge published one of the first behind-the-scenes reportsfrom a US Facebook contractor where employees reported “the conspiracy videos and memes that they see each day gradually led them to embrace fringe views”, and that a former moderator “now sleeps with a gun at his side”.

This is a huge milestone for the medical and Artificial Intelligence communities, this could lead to many breakthroughs which would take less time than previous methods.
