Following the Trends

In the world of social media marketing it is all about the trends going on and they are constantly changing and evolving at a fast pace. Everyday there is a new video, platform, photo, etc. going around getting everyones attention. What marketers want is for their company or product to be that thing that gets everyones attention. This is why keeping up with trends is so important, if you marketers are using what is popular at this time there is more chance that a following will develop for the business.

A new year just started and already so many trends have come and gone but there are six trends that the article below talks about being the trends they “believe are going to be important when it comes to social media marketing in 2020”. The one trend they talk about that I think is going to be the biggest is social media influencers and word-of-mouth marketing. So many people on Instagram and Facebook want to be “influencers” and it has become a huge part of the social media experience. For example, half of the accounts I follow on Instagram are influencers. People like seeing others peoples lives and how they can improve their own lives from seeing what others are doing. They want a genuine and real experience from these influencers, many of them advertise products and their followers trust their judgement of the products they talk about. This trend will continue to grow but will then get to a point that so many people will try to be influencers and people will begin to not trust as much. It is a really good way for these people to market themselves and the brands that sponsor them, especially on Instagram.

Social media marketing is going to do nothing but continue to grow with the growth of technology in today’s society so marketers must stay ahead of the game and do research on upcoming trends and trends happening right now. This will help to build and maintain their social media strategy that will result in their success when using social media to market their business or product.

Philips Hue and Zigbee Wireless Protocol allowed hackers access to Home and Office Networks through vulnerability in software

Recently, Check Point, a company dedicated to finding security flaws in technology hardware and software, found a vulnerability in Philips Hue smart light bulbs that allowed hackers to access home and office networks. The vulnerability also utilized the ZigBee low-power wireless protocol. Based on the research done by Check Point, smart home security was subverted and allowed hackers to trick users into infiltrating the network by causing the users into performing specific actions.

Once alerted to the problem, Philips Hue issued a patch that protected users against the vulnerability. Once the hackers accessed a home network, they were able to obtain all sorts of user data through packet-sniffing, including banking details.

This recent issue raises the question about how well Internet of Things companies and those that make smart devices prioritize security over sales. There are numerous instances of these vulnerabilities being found and internal details showed that the companies that allowed them to happen did not put nearly as much effort into user protection and security as they did into sales. It’s important for users of Internet of Things products to make sure that the devices they are buying are subjected to regular software and security updates.

India’s Data Protection Bill Threatens Global Cybersecurity

WIthin the past couple of years protection regulations have been processed in different countries, starting in Europe. Then it was continued in California. After this India proposed India Data Protection Act of 2019 which gives you the right to be forgotten.

When user data is processed at a business, unique algorithms decouple sensitive data like location traces and medical records from identifying details like email addresses and passport numbers, de-identification. It may be reversed, so organizations can recover the link between the users’ identities and their data when needed. Such controlled re-identification by legitimate parties happens routinely and is perfectly appropriate, so long as the technical design is safe and sound.

In other words, if a malicious attacker where to get ahold of the de-identified database and re-identify the data, the online criminals would gain an extremely valuable loot. As we see in continued data breaches, leaks, or online espionage, our world is full of potential adversaries seeking to exploit weakness in information systems.

Faster Websites, Faster Downloads!

With the continuous growth of mobile traffic, many developers began designing websites using a mobile-first approach. That is, rather than designing the website for a computer and then making the website responsive to the mobile phone, they now design the website for the mobile first and then computer. This approach and ongoing growth of mobile traffic has led to the creation of AMP—Accelerated Mobile Pages.

As the name suggest, AMP allows web developers and web designers to create faster-loading websites. They provide instantaneous access to all the information in the page, and according to statistics, lead to a 20% increase in website traffic.
