Tik Tok’s rise has gone to other apps like Spotify and Youtube where there are countless playlists of songs from Tik Tok. This articles goes into the example of Mariah Carrie’s ‘Obsessed’ which was on the Billboards top 100 at No. 7 in 2009. Since then it has gained a second wind through Tik Tok for a dance. Once the song has taken over your For You Page, it eventually gets stuck in your head and you’re having to google lyrics. Call it guerrilla radio for your smartphone. The rise of the app and the popularity of music on the app, has helped many artist get discovered or rediscovered like Mariah Carrie.
