New Report Reveals How Extreme Internet of Things Security Flaws Are

A report recently conducted by Palo Alto Networks found that of roughly 1.2 million IoT devices across thousands of physical locations in the United States pose real security risks, with 98% of traffic being exposed. This exposed traffic can reveal personal and confidential information to hackers.

Even worse, most networks blend IoT devices with more traditional network devices such as laptops and mobile phones, exposing these devices and networks to attacks and infection.

The researchers estimate that more than 57% of IoT devices are currently vulnerable to high severity attacks. This is not new news however, as top tech experts have been warning about the lack of security in these devices since their burst in popularity several years ago. With no new legislation in the works to secure these devices, it is up to developers and manufacturers to make sure these devices are secured and protected on their own.
