Cyberbullying Can Worsen Depression And PTSD?

After a study in New York City reveal that teens in psychiatric hospital had worsened symptoms of existing depression and PTSD, Philip Harvey, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, started finding out much more. He had found that teens who had been abused in the past, emotionally or physically, were more likely to be bullied online. It also uncovered many other facts about cyberbullying in general.

One, for example, is that time that someone spends online does not play a factor on who is cyberbullied. Additionally, people who have been bullied before, are at a high risk of being bullied again. Lastly, teens of all different backgrounds, economic and ethnic, are vulnerable to being bullied online. Though all these new facts are unfortunate, they are important to know so more and more people can be assessed to try and combat cyberbullying.
