Local Universities in North Carolina are have been working with engineers and nurses to create 3D printed PPE to help with the worldwide shortage. Although these universities are not printing masks, instead they are printing face shields which would allow these healthcare professionals to wear masks for an extended period of time. Universities are also taking requests from any healthcare organizations such as hospitals, practices, nursing homes, and hospice organizations.
