The effects of bullying are dangerous as we know. The states with the Best and worst effect were calculated for a few particular side effects of bullying for teens in the grades of 9th through 12th. First, Louisiana and Maryland are tied for the highest percentage of physical fights on school ground while Kansas has the least percent.
Louisiana is also the worst for cyberbullying and in the top five worst for face-to-face bullying. Next, New Mexico has the highest percent of high school students who miss and skip school because they fear of the bullying and Massachusetts has the lowest percent. Additionally, Louisiana and Arkansas are tied for first for the highest percentage of attempted suicide of high school students and Massachusetts and Vermont are tied for the lowest percent.
Lastly, California, New York, and Texas have the highest cost of truancy for school because of bullying and North Dakota has the lowest cost. These statistics should show states and the government where there are gaps and where things can be improved. While at least one child is bullied every 7 minutes in the United States, only every 1 in 25 adults will intervene and do something to stop the bullying, no matter what form, and only 11 percent of their peers would do the same.
Would you make the difference and help stop bullying around the U.S.?
