There are so many articles on whitespace. It’s a very common term and I’d be hardpressed to find a person that doesn’t have an idea of what it is. The concept of “use whitespace” isn’t revolutionary. There are so many articles detailing what whitespace is but not really explaining how to use it beyond “yes, it’s okay for things to be minimalist”. Trendy websites are all very minimalist and I get the feeling that one day this will be super dated – “wow that website looks like it was from the 2010’s”. It’s really silly. In the quest for whitespace and minimalism (the two go hand-in-hand), everything looks the same.
For what it is, the article is not bad. It very clearly details what whitespace is and lists the benefits of it; it could be worse. More importantly – the article could be better. The article could detail how to develop an eye for whitespace – but it doesn’t. That’s the biggest fault, the purpose of the article being to criticize without teaching the reader to be better. It just says “blank space” without saying how much.
The purpose of content farms is to produce lots of content – not quality content, lots of it. This article suffers for it.
