Israel along with other countries are scrambling to keep up with policies adopting AI on a massive scale. Policies such as the United States American AI initiative is scaring other countries. Israel stands no chance against the vast amount of Artificial Intelligence set to hit the economy and nation within the next few years.
The latest Government AI Readiness Index ranks Israel 21st behind China, while the United States is sitting at 4th. Companies all over Israel are scrambling to start up in order to keep up with other countries growing AI policies and startups. Companies such as Apple and Facebook are establishing labs to tap the regions AI talent to help grow AI within their own companies. The only problem is without a governmental AI policy such as the U.S.’s there is no guarantee AI growth will continue in Israel.
Israel’s Innovation Authority report in 2019 even stated if appropriate resources are not allocated for AI-based technological dominance then Israel will continue to fall behind in the AI race. They also note in their report that AI is essential to the economy considering AI technologies is expected to add $15 trillion to the global economy by 2030 as the market grows to $191 billion in worth by 2025. If countries such as Israel do not take better action to establish AI based dominance, the U.S. will continue to make its way to the global economic powerhouse once again.
