Social Media and its consequences on the youth

According to researchers, teens spend on average nine hours or more on their cell phones daily. Studies have also show that teen depression has risen over 52% from 2005 to 2017. The same study showed that one in five teens are affected by mental illness, could the amount of social media usage have something to do with this? Well, researchers at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health says that teens who spend over three hours a day on social media are more likely to report behaviors that are indicators of mental health issues, in comparison with teens who do not use social media.
