A new app called “Clearview” lets stranger find your name and information with just the snap of a photo. A startup, Clearview AI has made it possible and the app is being used by hundreds of law enforcement agencies in the US, including the FBI, according to a report in The New York Times. How does it work? It compares your photo to a database of more than 3 billion pictures that gets photos from Facebook, Venmo, YouTube and other social media sites. But no need to worry just yet. This app isn’t available to the public even though police officers and investors think it will be in the future. The startup said in a statement that “its technology is intended only for use by law enforcement and security personnel..” So next time, you’re wandering the streets, wear a hat!
